Hershey FD Vintage Action: Hershey Medical Center Site : Hershey, PA 2/23/67 - The main building of the new Hershey Medical Center was under construction when a fire started near propane cylinders momentarily trapping construction workers on the fifth floor. Flames destroyed wooden platforms on the sixth floor causing this section to collapse on to the floor below. Most firefighting was done from the basket of the Snorkel with some other lines used for spot fires. Firefighters were hampered by mud and a lack of hydrants on the construction site.

Hershey FD Vintage Action: The Hershey Lumber Company : Hershey, PA 6/9/71 - 213 West Chocolate Avenue - The former Hershey Lumber Company building was in the process of being torn down when this fire occurred. First engine on scene was the 1969 Hahn which took the hydrant at West Chocolate Avenue and Mill Street. The fire spread with unexpected fury causing handline crews to quickly retreat. The Hahn suffered radiant heat damage. Several exploding fuel tanks on the demolition equipment and cans of paint still stored inside the building caused the unusually rapid spread of the fire.
